New York Yankees’ Legend Derek Jeter is Going to be a Dad!

Published

on

Derek Jeter has had a lot of important titles in his career as the New York Yankees Shortstop from 1995-2014. He’s a five-time World Series champion, the Yankees’ all-time career leader in many categories, 14-time All-Star player, and the list goes on. Now, the former shortstop is going to have the greatest title of all—a dad!

It has been about 7 months since Jeter married the model Hannah Davis in a private ceremony that the public wasn’t aware of until they broke the news. Any baseball fan knows that the famed player is all about keeping his private life out of the media but it is going to be tougher now that all eyes are on his coming child!

Hannah Jeter broke the news about her pregnancy on her husband’s website, The Players’ Tribune, which is all about giving athletes (and their family) a way to connect directly to their fans by telling their own stories. It is fitting that Jeter was allowed to be the first one to share the wonderful news instead of the paparazzi! In fact, if you read the article titled, “The Derek I Know,” you wouldn’t read the shocking news until the very end!

His wife’s article concluded with the words we have been waiting to hear since the New York Yankee retired—“Now, pregnant with our first child, Derek and I are looking to the future.” While we don’t know the expected birth date, we do know that soon there will be a little girl running around with a famous last name.

The couple will probably keep their daughter’s name out of the press for awhile but apparently, Derek Jeter already has a name set! In her article, Hannah mentioned, “He already has a name in mind – he’s set on it. (We’ll see.).” We won’t be surprised if he names her after a great baseball player! Some people have already speculated that it will be “Tori,” named after his first manager on the New York Yankees, Joe Torre. I guess we will see!

Now, the question that is on all our minds is will she be as athletic and driven as her father? Hannah Jeter told us, “And if they want to play baseball, well, we’re gonna have a little talk first.” There is going to be a lot of people wanting to be in on that talk. I mean, when your dad is considered one of the greatest baseball players alive, we have expectations that they will be just as great. Maybe their daughter will be the first female major league baseball player!

It has been three years since our favorite Yankee retired and we have definitely missed seeing him on the field. Yet, he went on to the next chapter of his life, marrying the woman he loves and now, going on to master fatherhood.

On May 14th, which also happens to be Mother’s Day, the Yankees will be retiring his No. 2 jersey. I bet we will get a glimpse of his pregnant wife that day! We wish you all the best, Derek Jeter!
