Will Henry Cavill Be the Next James Bond?

Published

on

From iconic players like Roger Moore and Sean Connery to recent favorites like Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig, it’s an honor and a privilege to be chosen as the suave, secret agent James Bond. As the current 007 announces his departure, many people are shaking and stirring over who might be the next pick once Daniel Craig leaves the franchise.

Who The People Want

Everyone has an opinion over who they want to play the next rendition of the famous spy. After having nine different white males play the character, many would like to see an African American take on the role. Idris Elba of Luther and Thor fame is a fan favorite, although he’s denied this will actually happen.

Having the first female Bond has also been heavily pushed for, with Gillian Anderson (X-Files) and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) both expressing interest. Alas, it looks like James Bond may return in a familiar form, with Henry Cavill as the new rumored pick.

Trading One Suit For Another

With piercing blue eyes and a jaw that could cut glass, Cavill was the obvious pick for Superman back in 2011. Since recent reports of him leaving the cape and tights behind, he’s been on the market for a new leading role. Cue James Bond rumors.

With his stereotypical Bond looks, it’s not crazy to think he’ll be the next one to slip on the gadget-infused suit. He certainly won’t be difficult to watch (wink, wink).

What Do You Think?

Will it be a let down to cast another beautiful male prototype as Agent 007? Or will it be staying true to a franchise that’s spanned the course of nearly 6 decades? It’s difficult to say that the Bond movies will suffer from another gorgeous British male taking the lead.

But it’s fun to muse over what could be if they switched things up. It would be pretty entertaining to see a sexually aggressive female downing martinis while saving the world. With rumors swirling about, we can’t wait to see who ends up with the vote!
