Wesley Snipes May Be Returning As MCU’s ‘Blade’

Published

on

How exciting would it be to see another installment of the Blade series starring the original day walker, Wesley Snipes himself? Pretty cool, right? Well, fellow Marvel fans, we might just get to see that.

A Synopsis

For those of you out there who are hearing about this Blade fellow for the first time, allow us to briefly bring you up to speed. Blade started as a Marvel comic book series featuring a main character of the same name. The first movie was released in 1998 under the same title (if it works, it works, right?). Played by Wesley Snipes, Blade is a dhampir (half human, half vampire) who possesses all the powers of a vampire without any of the drawbacks. All except for one, in any case.

The one weakness he possesses is the thirst for human blood. A small price to pay in our book. Besides, his thirst is controlled by a serum concocted by his savior/mentor/partner, Whistler, played by Kris Kristofferson in the film. Together they make slaying vamps look like child’s play. Oh, and Blade has a really cool sword. Go figure.

First Of Its Kind

Not only was Blade an excellent film, but it was also the first film of its kind. Dark, bloody, and violent, Blade paved the way for other anti-heroes to make their own silver screen appearances.

Movies like Deadpool, The Punisher, Daredevil, Wolverine, and many more have the franchise to thank for blazing a trail they could follow. It’s easy to see why fans are so excited, but is it going to happen?

But Is A Reboot Really Going To Happen?

Snipes sure seems to think so.

“There are a lot of conversations going around right now and we’re very blessed to have the enthusiasm and interest in something coming from that world again. We’ve created two projects that fit perfectly into this world and, when people see them, I think they’re only going to have a problem with deciding which one they love the most.” Said Snipes last year in an interview with Vice.

That, combined with whispers of a script, and rumors of a new Blade movie already in the works, sure seems to point toward the affirmative as well. Nothing is for certain, however, and only time will tell the full story, but we can all keep our fingers crossed.
