While work on Star Trek 4 was announced in April, not many details about the film have been released. Just in time for the official Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, some juicy information has been unveiled.

Meet The New Face Of Evil

According to sources, director S.J. Clarkson is looking to have a female villain for this next chapter. What better way to combat them with a strong female hero? Clarkson is also slated to have a female join the Enterprise.

What makes this news more interesting is that Black Panther star Danai Gurira is in talks for a role. With her much-celebrated performances in Black Panther and The Walking Dead, Gurira would be perfect for either role.

You Will Be Assimilated

The Star Trek films have a grand history of amazing female villains. In 1991’s Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, two female villains tormented the crew. Lt. Valeris, who was Spock’s protégé, secretly killed Gorkon in order to ignite a war between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Shapeshifter Martia tried to kill Kirk and McCoy, but she met her maker at the hands of security.

1994’s Star Trek Generations saw the big screen debut of Klingon sisters Lursa and B’Etor. Originally seen in The Next Generation, the two destroyed Enterprise-D during combat. In 1996’s Star Trek: First Contact, the Borg Queen became a complete nightmare to Picard.

The Future Begins

Information about the upcoming film is rumored to be released at the aforementioned convention next month. Clarkson earned the honor of being the first woman to produce a Star Trek movie. Star Trek 4 will see the return of Chris Hemsworth as James Kirk’s father George. One rumored plot detail involves James and George running into each other via time travel.

Filming for this movie is slated to start in the beginning of 2019.
