Two ‘Blade’ Projects Are Being Developed With Marvel Studios

Published

on

When it came to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans begged for the arrivals of Ghost Rider and Blade. While Ghost Rider has now been established in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Blade still hasn’t been brought into the massive TV/film universe. Fortunately, that’s likely going to change in the near future.

Part Man. Part Vampire. All Hero.

Talking to Vice, Wesley Snipes revealed that Blade is being considered for insertion in Phase Four. “We’ve created two projects that fit perfectly into this world and, when people see them, I think they’re only going to have a problem with deciding which one they love the most,” he told the website.

When it comes to the character being recast, Snipes is uncertain if any new stars could step up. “Skill-wise, there’s not a lot of guys out there that dance, that do the martial arts, that act well and can have that Blade flavor,” he said. In 2006, rapper Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones portrayed Blade in Spike’s series based on the character. While the show had high ratings, it was canceled after one season due to high production costs.

Crossover Of The Millennium

In 2016, it was revealed that the directors behind Underworld wanted to do a crossover with Blade. While this would’ve been the picture perfect movie, Marvel turned down the offer. “No. We had that idea. No. They’re doing something with Blade,” Kate Beckinsale said during a panel at New York Comic Con.

The rights to Blade were reverted back to Marvel in 2011. In 2013, plans for a Blade movie were announced, but they were soon shelved.

A Daughter’s Rise?

When it comes to the new Blade projects, comic book fans would love to see Blade’s daughter Fallon Grey. Announced in 2015, she was slated to be a part of the Blade: The Hunter series. Unfortunately, that series was canceled before being released. Some rumors went around that Marvel Studios wanted to bring her into the MCU.

When Blade does finally arrive, fans will be ready to watch him kick vampire tail all over again.

When Real-Life Plays A Part In TV Plotlines

Not every show has its plot lined out from the moment the pilot airs, and still, sometimes real-life can get in the way. Even the best laid plans can go awry, and sometimes plotlines are created entirely to accommodate an actor’s unexpected personal issue. From pregnancies to off-set injuries (and of course plenty of on-set injuries), writers are reworking scripts so that you’d never know something else was happening behind the scenes. Think you know why an actor exited a show? We’ll bet you didn’t even realize that some major show plots happened out of serendipity. Read on to find out how in some cases, the truth really is stranger than fiction.
