Identical Twins Give Birth Hours Apart Despite Different Due Dates

Twin sisters Rachael McGeoch and Beccy Pistone became pregnant around the same time and although their due dates were several days apart, something in their gut knew that they would most likely give birth at the same time too.

Pistone’s due date was much earlier, August 1, and although nothing happened on that day, the mom-to-be still waited two more weeks before going to the hospital to have the birth induced. Unfortunately, she still did not go into labor, making her pretty upset.

“When I woke up, I just had a meltdown and I called my husband at work and I just said, ‘I am going to Boston and I need to go see Rachael and I’m sure that once I get there I might go into labor too,” Pistone told the Inside Edition.

On August 13, her sister’s due date, the Pistones traveled from Cape Cod, Mass., to the hospital where McGeoch waiting to give birth in Boston. Apparently, being with her twin sister worked wonders.

“It was basically after two hours when Beccy got here that I went into hard labor,” McGeoch said. Pistone followed her twin sister’s cue and went into labor herself. “Once she got to the point that she was ready to push, then I went into active labor,” Pistone shared.

When this happened, Pistone wanted to go back to her hospital in Cape Cod but the doctors told her that she had to stay. “The doctors checked me and said, ‘No you’re not going anywhere,’” she said. Sticking together, the rooms of the twin sisters were right next to each other as they delivered their babies. McGeoch gave birth to a son while Pistone had a baby daughter. The cousins’ births were only hours apart.

“I think it’s amazing and just really special. We kind of joked about this the whole time we were pregnant together and how great it would be if we could pull this off,” McGeoch said.
