‘Twilight’ Is Headed Back To Theaters For Its 10th Anniversary Celebration

Published

Twilight fans, get ready! The first film, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary, is coming back to theaters for a limited release. And is it possible that a reboot may be coming?

A Vampire Phenomenon

Released in 2008, Twilight took the movie world by storm. Based on Stephanie Meyer’s novel of the same name, the movie centered around the love story of human Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). Fans of the book and other teens flocked to the theaters to see the film. With a budget of $37 million, the film ended up earning $390 million globally at the box office.

The film went on to become a five-part franchise that earned over $3 billion total. And, while there certainly were other vampire shows and movies before Twilight, the films seemed to spark a renewed interest in the mythical creatures. Shows like The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and The Strain have done pretty well, and it could very well be attributed to Twilight‘s success.

Back To The Big Screen

To celebrate the film’s 10th anniversary, the very first Twilight film is heading back to theaters for two days this October. The movie will be shown at 450 movie theaters on Sunday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 23, 2018. Fans will also see a special introduction from the director, Catherine Hardwicke.

What’s even more special is that there will be a sneak peek of the brand-new special feature: “Twilight Tour…10 Years Later.” That feature will be on the upcoming Twilight 4K Ultra HD home entertainment release, which will be available on October 23. All five of the movies are also set to be re-released with new collectible artwork! But could there also be a reboot of the popular vampire franchise?

Bella and Edward Reunited?

Of course, since it’s been 10 years, fans are wondering if they’ll get a reboot of this huge film series. A rep from the film’s studio Lionsgate said that “there are a lot more stories to be told” in the series. A reboot could very well happen as long as the book’s author, Stephenie Meyer, was on board.

For Stewart and Pattinson, the films definitely helped catapult their careers to higher heights. Rumors have been circulating on whether the former real-life couple would take part. Both actors have been reported as loving the idea of Twilight coming back. However, they would rather it be a TV show than another film series. The two would also reportedly want to be a part of it, but only for a brief appearance rather than a part of the main cast. Time will tell what’s ahead for this popular franchise!
