Television can make us feel many emotions in a short period of time. When it comes to a good cry, they’ve been there with unforgettable, cathartic moments. It can almost feel therapeutic watching your favorite characters involved in something so dramatic. These episodes will always have you reaching for the tissue.

Father Doesn’t Know Best

In Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Will Smith had a rough childhood without his father Lou. In “Papa’s Got A Brand New Excuse,” Lou decides to come back into his life. Lou promised to take Will on a summer trip, but he canceled at the last minute. Upset with his actions, Will simply lets him walk away for good. Will breaks down and asks Uncle Phil, “How come he don’t want me, man?” Phil holds Will close to him as audiences around the world feel their hearts breaking.

That’s What She Said

While fans knew emotions would be high for The Office‘s series finale, they didn’t expect infinite waterworks. The two-part episode featured the return of Steve Carell, who exited in season six. If that wasn’t enough, the wedding of Dwight and Angela was simply glorious. The episode was expanded by 15 minutes due to a huge fan petition.

Man’s Best Friend

In the Futurama episode “Jurassic Bark,” Fry tries to bring his fossilized dog Seymour back to life. It was determined that Seymour lived for 12 years after Fry was frozen in 2000. Fry assumed Seymour found a better life with a new owner before his passing. The show ends with a flashback of Fry telling Seymour to stay put until he returned. Seymour did just that as we see him sitting through the years before finally closing his eyes. Anyone that sees this episode will instantly give their pets a lot more affection than usual.

Death Of A Friend

With the death of Cory Monteith, Glee chose to have art imitate life in “The Quarterback.” The episode found everyone reacting to the sudden death of Finn Hudson. The powerful episode ends with a memorial screen for Cory. One problem many fans had was the creators not stating how Finn died.

I’ll Be There For You

Fans of Friends waited for Chandler to propose to Monica. The season six finale “The One with the Proposal” was so massive, it was a two-hour event. The episode finds the two lovebirds proposing to each other surrounded by candles. This episode was originally slated to be the series finale if contract negotiations didn’t go through.

If you need a good cry, grab a tissue and binge these super sad television episodes.
