When it comes to animals, celebrities simply adore their own pets. Just like you and me, they enjoy watching cats and dogs walk the streets on a sunny day. One star managed to put their life on the life to save one precious pet.

Me And My Shadow

Actor Trevor Donovan is best known for his work on The CW’s revival of 90210. The California native was busy shooting his new movie Hot Water when he noticed something actually in the water. A golden retriever named Shadow was seen floating in the distance.

Donovan sprung into action and swam over to the dog to bring it to land. This entire ordeal happened to occur on his 38th birthday. When news broke of the rescue, he took to social media to discuss the matter. “Ain’t nothing any of y’all wouldn’t do… and if a doggo saw any of us struggling in the water, they’d instantly jump in to save us as well,” he tweeted. Donovan posted a photo of himself with the dog featuring the caption, “Made a friend for life.”

Born To The Breed

Donovan is a dog lover for life. Earlier this year, he expressed anger at dog breeders who don’t getting their dogs tested. His own German Shepherd named Dogbert currently has both hind legs paralyzed from degenerative myelopathy. Unfortunately, this disease is incurable, but doctors have stated that walking will prevent things from getting worse.

“Because of greedy breeders, we got dogs like Dogbert whose lives are gonna end before their time,” he told TMZ. Fortunately, Dogbert seems to be doing just fine right now. “He’s not in any pain or anything, but it’s just kinda hard to see him walking, limping around, dragging his feet,” he said. Aside from Dogbert, Donovan has a bulldog named Tito.

Spreading The Word

Donovan has been getting the word out about degenerative myelopathy through his social media. Over the summer, the actor released the book Love Always, Dogbert & Tito.

While Dogbert has to use wheels to get around, his spirit is stronger than ever. And he’s always ready to smile for the camera!
