Disney is making even more live-action adaptations of the classic animations, including Aladdin, Dumbo, Lion King, and now Pinocchio. But the classic family favorite is getting a new puppeteer, and legendary actor Tom Hanks is in early talks to play Geppetto. Most fans would agree Hanks is the best choice for the role.

Retelling Of A Disney Classic

Pinocchio, released in 1940, was Walt Disney’s second animated feature film after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The film captured America’s attention, telling the story of a puppet crafted by an old woodcarver, Geppetto. The puppet comes to life by a fairy, who tells him he can only become a real boy if he shows his bravery.

The animated film is a family classic, but the upcoming live-action adaptation is sure to win over new fans.

Hanks As A Family Man

Hanks has earned the worthy reputation of appealing to all audiences. He starred in his famous dramatic roles, including Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and The Green Mile. But the two-time Oscar winner has proven he’s a family man, as well. After all, he has voiced Woody in Toy Story, played Walt Disney in Saving Mr. Banks, and starred in The Polar Express. Just because he’s a serious actor doesn’t mean he can’t have fun.

Hanks is also starring as Mister Rogers in an upcoming biopic about the life of the beloved children’s television personality. If there’s anyone you would want to be your neighbor, it’s Tom Hanks.
