The actress has since made a name for herself in America’s Hollywood, but it’s definitely not her first stint in acting. Read on to learn more about her entertainment background and how she finally made it big in the U.S.

Bullied In The States

Originally from India, Chopra traveled to America at 12 years old for school. The actress lived in Iowa, New York, Indianapolis, and Boston through middle school and high school. When she reached high school, she was tormented by a bully because of her Indian heritage. It got so bad that Chopra eventually went back to India. Who knew then that, one day, she’d be a major star in Hollywood? But first, she had to take India by storm.

A Bollywood Superstar

After entering pageants in India as a young woman, Chopra won Miss World in 2000. After that major win, she was able to enter the Bollywood industry with ease. In fact, the actress has starred in over 50 Bollywood films before Quantico. And she surprisingly did it with no experience.

A Natural Talent

Because she was so well known in India as Miss World, the actress had many opportunities laid at her feet. She actually never once auditioned for a Bollywood role. In fact, her first real audition was for Quantico. However, her talent spoke for itself, and she went on to earn other roles and awards for her natural talent. But acting isn’t her only skill.

A Jill Of All Trades

Though Chopra loves acting, she also has a knack for singing! She even worked with Pitbull on her song, “Exotic,” and reportedly has a studio session with Pharrell coming up. Inspired by music from the 1990s and the late Tupac Shakur, Chopra is rumored to be working on her own album. Even though she’s living it up in Hollywood, the actress still has an immense love for India and actively works to make a difference in her home country.

Giving Back To India

As a young woman, Chopra did very well in school but put college to the side to focus on her acting career. However, she still stresses the importance of education to kids in her native India. In fact, she created her own non-profit organization, the Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health & Education. Through this organization, she helps to pay for schooling and medical care for 70 kids in her home country. Even though she is a big star now, India will always be in her heart.
