The Rock and ‘SpongeBob’ Have The Best Twitter Friendship, And You’ll Want To Be A Part Of It

Published

There are some friendship goals and then there are other friendships you really admire. For example, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and SpongeBob Squarepants have recently become unlikely Twitter friends, sending tweets back and forth to each other. While this may be unusual, the pair is certainly keeping Twitter entertaining these days.

How It Started

You would probably think Johnson started this Twitter friendship, but it’s actually the opposite. The official SpongeBob Squarepants Twitter account tweeted to Johnson earlier this month, writing, “Hey @TheRock, what inspired your nickname… Patrick Star’s home? Either way, we love it!”

Twitter users liked and retweeted the tweet, hoping to get Johnson’s attention. Luckily, it worked.

Johnson’s Perfect Response

It shouldn’t be surprising that Johnson tweeted back at SpongeBob with the perfect response. After all, the professional wrestler turned actor is known for being comedic. He tweeted, “Hi Bob, which nickname are you referring to? Big Daddy? The Rock? Samoan Thor? Beef Piston? Or the inappropriate one I earned back in college? P.S., I love your work.”

What was SpongeBob’s response to THAT?

Things To Consider

There are two things to consider: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a fan of SpongeBob Squarepants, and one of his nicknames is “Beef Piston.” If you’re surprised, you’re not alone. It seems unlikely that Johnson and SpongeBob are friends, but that’s exactly what has happened.

The Twitter conversation continued with an even more perfect response from SpongeBob.

SpongeBob’s Brilliant Response

SpongeBob tweeted back at Johnson with a brilliant response, writing, “We earned one or two cool names ourselves back in boating school. P.S. Do you smell what the Bob is cooking? (It’s Krabby Patties btw).”

While Johnson didn’t respond to the tweet, this little friendship is too cute. And others decided to chime in.

Getting In On The Fun

The WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) Twitter account joined in on the fun, tweeting, “Move over, @Patrick_Star! @SpongeBob might have a new best friend in @TheRock!” The Twitter account shared an article about the new friendship.

The SpongeBob Squarepants Twitter account responded to WWE’s tweet, writing, “We always have room for more best friends. Also, Patrick loves rocks!”
