‘Terminator 6’ Is Officially In The Works, Yes, With Arnold

Published

on

James Cameron’s Terminator franchise is just as unkillable as its titular cyborg murder machine! The veteran filmmaker, who launched the series (and is also responsible for megahits Avatar and Titanic), will oversee the production of the next film, coming in 2019. Tim Miller, who helmed the gritty, action-packed comic book adaptation Deadpool is signed on to direct. The official announcement comes from screenwriter Billy Ray who wrote on Twitter that the studio has given the movie the official green light. To be fair, since we’re talking Terminator, shouldn’t it be the red light?

Arnold Schwarzenegger… Will Be Back

The original killer cybernetic organism, Arnold Schwarzenegger, will reprise his role as the T-800. No word yet on whether he’s one of the good guys or the bad guys this time around. There’s also no indication as to how the filmmakers plan to deal with his… “outdated hardware.” He’s going to be 71 while filming this flick, after all. But we’re talking James Cameron here. He created Pandora, an entirely computer-generated world, for Avatar. We’re sure he’ll think of something.

Yes, She Is Sarah Connor

Also coming back to the fold is everyone’s favorite messiah mother, Sarah Connor. Franchise original Linda Hamilton is also tied to the next Terminator installment, set to return as the mother of John Connor, the leader of man’s fight against the machines. She’s basically Den Mother to the Apocalyptic Resistance. But maybe it didn’t make for the most stable of environments for raising a child.

The Terminator Returns Summer 2019

Details on the plot and the rest of the cast are being kept under wraps for the time being. What is known is that the creators will be playing the same kinds of games with reality as they have in the past. “We still fold time. We will have characters from the future and the present. There will be mostly new characters, but we’ll have Arnold and Linda’s characters to anchor it,” Cameron said. So be on the lookout for the next killer Terminator flick!
