‘Supergirl’ Movie In Development Stages At Warner Bros.

Published

on

Feature films based on comic books are amongst the most popular at the box office today. Week after week, fans of these epic stories fill theaters around the country just to see their 2-D heroes brought to life on the big screen. Not only are these movies incredibly entertaining, but they’re insanely profitable as well. Which is probably why there’s a constant stream of superhero flicks coming out of Hollywood these days.

A ‘Supergirl’ Movie?

It’s only a matter of time before each comic book universe is unfurled in movie form. Each successive movie dives deeper into character backstories and beginnings and it seems as though Warner Bros. is ready to introduce Clark Kent’s cousin, Supergirl, to the world.

That’s right, people. DC Comics, along with the brilliant minds over at Warner Bros., are in the initial scripting stages of what will eventually be a Supergirl movie.

New Direction

This leap towards another female-centric feature film is just another sign that studios are starting to go in a new direction when it comes to comic book movies.

For the past handful of years, the plots of these films have been, for the most part, very heavy and depressing. There wasn’t a lot of fun to be had. But all that’s about to change with the creation of this new Supergirl movie.

Who Will Be In It?

So far, everybody involved with this project is keeping their casting cards close to the vest. What we do know, however, is that Oren Uziel will be writing the script. His credits include such hits as The Cloverfield Paradox, 22 Jump Street, and Mortal Kombat.

The role of Supergirl has yet to be cast, but many names are being considered. Will Superman, himself, make a cameo in this movie? Will this inspire other studios to take similar routes in the future? Only time will tell.
