‘Suicide Squad 2’ Will Not Include Will Smith

Published

One of 2016’s Suicide Squad‘s biggest stars will not be sticking around for its follow up in 2021. Unfortunately, Hollywood megastar Will Smith, known as the DC comic character Deadshot, will not return for the second feature of this so far lucrative franchise. Fortunately, his shoes will be filled by a strong replacement.

Big Talent

Will Smith hardly needs an introduction as he has played lead role after lead role for years now with such hits as Independence Day, The Pursuit Of Happyness, Men In Black, I Am Legend, Hitch and many more. It is never a happy thing to see such a great actor leave a role.

After all, Smith’s role as Deadshot in Suicide Squad was a solid one. Nevertheless, it seems that his departure from plans for the film’s follow-up has occurred on friendly terms and is primarily based on scheduling conflicts.

Quick Replacement

Warner Bros. has chosen their replacement with seasoned actor Idris Elba. He has played roles in films such as The Mountain Between Us, The Dark Tower, several Marvel movies and the show Luther.

Elba is an incredibly talented actor and will surely bring a strong presence to the role of Deadshot. He is no stranger to the comic book genre and has proven his wide-sweeping ability to take on just about any role.

Big Numbers

2016’s Suicide Squad was quite the box office success. With a $133,682,248 USA opening weekend and a cumulative worldwide gross of $746,846,894, it’s safe to say that the DC bad guys film really took home the money.

Suicide Squad 2 will see Idris Elba joined by fan-favorite Margot Robbie as Harley Quin and fresh face, Joel Kinnamin as Rick Flag. If the second installment is anything like its predecessor, it seems sure to make a big splash at the box office.
