What We Know About Stranger Things Season 3

Published

on

Stranger Things fans have something to rejoice about. Netflix’s hit show is set to return in either late 2018 or early 2019 with eight new episodes. The third season is beginning production later this month, and we already have a few significant details about the story. Here are five of the most important things we’ve learned.

One Year Later

Executive produce Shawn Levy recently revealed that the third season would take place a year after the previous season, during the summer of 1985. The time skip is consistent with the one that occurred between the first two seasons. The question is, how has the group grown and changed? It turns out we already have an idea.

Netflix

Young Romance

When the show picks up, there will be two couples in the group–Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Max (Sadie Sink), and Eleven (Millie Bobbie Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard). The show will explore what it means to be in a relationship when you’re only 14-years-old. We’ve also learned that an old character will be playing a bigger role.

Netflix

Steve Harrington Steps Up

Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) has acquired legions of fans over the course of the past two seasons, and they’ll be happy to hear that he’ll be a central figure in the upcoming storyline. Hinting at Steve’s involvement, Levy said, “I don’t want to say much more, but I literally feel that we were walking along and we stumbled onto a gold mine with Dad Steve.”

Netflix

New Series Regular

We’ve also learned that Stranger Things has added two new series regulars. One of them is Lucas’ sister Erica (Priah Ferguson), who showed up infrequently last season for some comedic moments. It looks like she’ll step into her brother’s strange world next season. The other new series regular is an actor new to the cast.

Netflix

New To The Cast

Maya Thurman-Hawke, daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, will be coming to the town of Hawkins for next season. She’ll play Robin, a young woman tired of her mundane life until she learns of the dark secrets lurking beneath the placid facade of Hawkins. Only time will tell whether she’ll play friend or foe to the show’s core group of heroes.
