‘Stranger Things’ Star Millie Bobby Brown Has Grown Up Right Before Our Eyes

Published

In 2016, child star Millie Bobby Brown rocked the world with her impressive performance as Eleven on Netflix’s hit original series, Stranger Things. Two years later, Brown is still captivating audiences, proving that she is maturing into a confident teenager and young adult. She is growing up right before our eyes.

Landing Her Dream Role

Brown was just 11 years old when she auditioned for Netflix’s Stranger Things. Before her breakout role, she appeared as a guest star in a variety of television shows, including Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, and others. She struggled to find roles, so when she auditioned for Stranger Things, she had no idea she was about to land her dream role.

Shaving Her Head

It took a lot of courage for the young star to become Eleven on the hit series. The first thing she needed was to shave her long, brunette hair to a buzzcut.

To Brown, shaving her head was “the most empowering moment of my whole life. The last strand of hair cut off was the moment my whole face was on show, and I couldn’t hide behind my hair like I used to.”

Feeling Confident With Herself

Brown isn’t afraid to be herself, even though she’s in the public eye. She accepts her differences— especially when she received criticism for her bald look.

“It was hurtful, but their attitude taught me something about compassion,” Brown shared. “In the end, being bald was the best thing I ever did— being different changed my life. I wanted to embrace my baldness and, hopefully, inspire people. And now, that’s my message to the world.”

Becoming Political

In March 2018, Brown supported the March for Our Lives demonstrations at the Kid’s Choice Awards, honoring the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting with a custom Calvin Klein denim outfit.

“I’m privileged to have a voice that can be heard, one that I can hopefully use to make a positive difference and help influence change,” Brown said.

What’s Next For Her?

Let’s remember that Brown is just a 14-year-old teenager. She still has a long career ahead of her, but it looks promising. In 2019, she will star in the highly anticipated Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and she will return as Eleven in Stranger Things’ third season. We expect she will land many more memorable roles, and we can’t wait to watch.
