Stan Lee Officially Withdraws From Public Appearances

Published

on

Back in the day, it was possible to catch Stan Lee at every major convention or comic book store. Over the years, the number of appearances has been dwindling down. If you’re expecting him to make an appearance soon, you’re going to be disappointed.

Letting Stan Rest

It has been revealed that Stan Lee will no longer make public appearances. Jonathan Bolerjack, who is looking after the comic book icon, broke the news to Bleeding Cool. “To be very clear, Stan is 100% not doing any conventions / public signings. In the last few years, his well being had been compromised by people for monetary gain and that practice is over,” he said.

Private signings with Lee, however, will continue to take place. One of those signings will take place this fall with Desert Wind Comics. The Las Vegas company has held private signings with Lee for the past decade.

Comic-Con Nightmare

This past spring, Lee caused a stir at the Silicon Valley Comic-Con in San Jose. Many fans have stated that he could barely write his own name at times. During photo shoots, Lee nearly looked as if he wasn’t really there.

Fans took to the Internet to display their concern with Lee, including host Meredith Placko. “I’m so angry and disgusted and just sad about what is going on with Stan Lee. There are stories (and video) surfacing from Silicon Valley Comic Con that hurt my heart because this is clearly a man who needs to be surrounded by friends and loved ones, and allowed to rest,” they said.

A True Marvel

While he’s going through some tough times, Lee still gives 100% of his love to Marvel. He recently made cameo appearances in Black PantherAvengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Marvel

Fans can expect to see him in Captain Marvel and Avengers 4 next year.
