Stan Lee Receives Grand Tribute In ‘Captain Marvel’s Opening Scene

Published

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe shifts into overdrive this year, one person won’t be around to see it. The red carpet events will feel empty without Stan Lee’s indomitable presence. One upcoming movie is slated to pay tribute to the comic book legend.

Fitting For An Icon

Captain Marvel will include a scene paying homage to Lee. This news comes from several people that caught an early screening. As expected, their lips are sealed on how the scene plays out.

Marvel

Lee does have a cameo appearance in the highly anticipated film.

Something To Marvel

Lee co-created the original Captain Marvel (known as Captain Mar-Vell) back in December 1967. Various people held the title prior to Carol Danvers. From 1977 to 2012, she went under the name Ms. Marvel. In 2012, Danvers started using Captain Marvel in memory of the original Captain Mar-Vell. Over time, Danvers became one of the most popular Avengers members ever.

When it comes to portraying the Marvel character, Brie Larson found it to be quite challenging. “There are some days where I’m doing a fight sequence for three days and then at the end of the third day, after I’ve been punching and kicking, then it’s like, ‘Okay, now we’re gonna do this one piece where you’re crying and it’s emotional,’ and you’re like, ‘Whoa. This all feels crazy.’ And it moves so fast and there’s so much that at a certain point, you just sort of have to trust your instincts,” she told Collider.

There In Spirit

The Captain Marvel film follows Danvers journey to become one of the strongest superheroes ever. The flick includes Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Annette Bening as the Supreme Intelligence, and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos.

Marvel

For Stan Lee fans, seeing the legend in some form onscreen will make them happy. While he’s gone, his legacy lives on throughout the entire Marvel universe for decades to come.
