The Outside World Son Repays Mother By Taking Her on a Bucket List Adventure Published 2 years ago on Jun 30, 2017 By Anthony Perrotta It’s taken Sian Pierre Regis a little while to realize how great a childhood his mother, Rebecca, gave him. “I was so mean to my mom growing up about having no money,” he told CBS’ On the Road segment. “I remember her crying a few times because I was so mean to her about it.” CBS News What put everything into perspective was a voicemail got from his mother last summer. “I just got fired. Just want you to know that. Bye,” his mom’s message said, coldly. The single mother worked as a housekeeper at a hotel in Boston to support her children when they were younger. Sian knew he didn’t appreciate the sacrifices his mom made in his younger years. He does now though. Being 75-years-old at the time of her firing, Rebecca explained that she was in shock, and never expected something like this to happen to her. Her son knew this was on of the few things that kept her going, and without her job, he didn’t know what she would do. So, he decided to take her on a bucket list adventure, where they checked off one item at a time. They included milking a cow in Vermont, taking hip-hop lessons from a “Hamilton” dancer, and learning Instagram. That last one might still be a work in progress though. Sian also took his mother back to her native England, where they threw a penny off the London Bridge and visited her sister’s grave for the first time. Mirror Rebecca could never do any of these things because she was always too busy working and raising her children. Together, the mother and son even walked the entire length of the Boston Marathon. For years, Rebecca had cleaned the hotel rooms for the runners. Now, she was able to experience the 25 plus miles firsthand. “I’ve never felt younger, I never felt more loved and actually I’m excited about going and seeing the next chapter,” she said. But as much as Rebecca feels she has gotten out of the experience, Sian feels he has gotten even more. “You can’t feel it when you’re just running through life,” he said. “You feel it when you help somebody up.” UP NEXT Man Learns Priceless Life Lessons While Traveling the World on Al...
