Snipes Spills Secret of Two New “Blade” Projects

Published

With all the new superhero movies, people forget about one of the first Marvel franchises to win over audiences: the Blade trilogy. With Wesley Snipes at the helm, these movies were a massive hit in the vampire genre. Well, fans can now rejoice as Snipes spills the secret of two new Blade projects currently in the works.

A Bit of Blade Background

For those of you who don’t know, or maybe need a bit of brushing up, the Blade trilogy focuses on vampire hunter Blade, played by Wesley Snipes. Blade’s mother is attacked by a vampire while giving birth to him, sparking his lifelong hatred of the creatures.

However, Blade turns into a bloodsucker himself, staving off blood-hunger via top-secret serum, keeping his oath to hunt the monsters of which he has now become. The series revolves around his eternal struggle to avenge his mother and protect the public for the blood-thirsty fiends.

What’s in the Works

Wesley Snipes recently revealed that the trilogy is going to be revived, with two new Blade projects underway. When asked about the future of Blade, Snipes claimed, “There are a lot of conversations going around right now, and we’re very blessed to have the enthusiasm and interest in something from that world again.”

“We’ve created two projects that fit perfectly into this world, and when people see them, I think they’re only going to have a problem with deciding which one they love most,” Snipes says. Yes!

Marvel’s Involvement

Some are rightfully worried that the Marvel superhero movie success may taint the dark hero legacy that Blade has put forth. Will the bright purples, reds and yellows of Thor, Doctor Strange and the Avengers bleed into the dark tones and hues of Blade?

According to Snipes, Marvel “gets it…the next time you see something in [the Blade universe], mark my words: what we did before is child’s play compared to what we can do now.” If that’s true, what comes next in the Blade franchise will truly blow everyone away.
