Samuel L. Jackson Wants Another Decade As Nick Fury

One of Samuel L. Jackson’s most noticeable roles is easily Nick Fury. Since 2008’s Iron Man, he’s been a strong force in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you believe he’s tired of playing the character, think again. Jackson wants to be in it for a long time.

Like Fine Wine

In a piece on The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson stated that he’d portray the character in his 80s.  “I could be the Alec Guinness of Marvel movies,” he told the publication. Guinness portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: A New Hope when he was only 63. Jackson was 66 when he first starred as Fury.

For Jackson, it’s all about Marvel throwing big bucks to keep him around.  “I’m a gunslinger now,” he said.

He Looks Familiar

In 2002, Nick Fury in the comics went through a transformation for The Ultimates. This new look, which was inspired by Jackson, caused the actor to call his people. “I was in Golden Apple one day and I saw The Ultimates cover and I realized it was my image, and so I called my manager immediately and was like, ‘Who’d I give permission to use my image for a comic book? Or did you guys do it and didn’t tell me? Were you trying to surprise me?,” he told Collider.

Mark Miller, who wrote the series, was shocked to hear from the actor. “He’s the world’s coolest guy and actually a huge comic fan. I had no idea when we used his likeness he even knew who the Avengers were,” he told THR.

Fists Of Fury

Jackson’s Nick Fury will play a strong role in the forthcoming Captain Marvel film. Taking place in the ’90s, the film follows Carol Danvers transformation into the beloved Marvel hero.

Jackson will also return for Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Outside of the MCU, Jackson will star in Blazing Samurai and The Banker.

When Real-Life Plays A Part In TV Plotlines
