The coronavirus has forced many to stay inside their homes for a lengthy time. Fortunately, actor Ryan Reynolds stepped in with a hefty donation for those affected by the virus. He didn’t waste time trolling his longtime friend Hugh Jackman, either.
Always Keeping Them Laughing
On Instagram, Reynolds announced he and his wife, Blake Lively, are donating $1 million to help those affected by the virus. “Covid-19 has brutally impacted older adults and low income families. Blake and I are donating $1 million to be split between Feeding America and Food Banks Canada. If you can give, these orgs need our help,” the actor stated on the social media platform.
The actor knew people are confused about the situation. Fortunately, Reynolds decided to give them some great advice. “Take care of your bodies and hearts. Leave room for joy. Call someone who’s isolated and might need connection,” he continued on Instagram. Always a prankster, Reynolds gave out an old friend’s number. “(Hugh Jackman’s # is 1-555-SAD FACE-HUGH),” he stated. As expected, the number Reynolds gave was completely false. Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively gave out the same heartfelt message, but she playfully made fun of her husband. “Now can someone tell Ryan that “emotional distancing” from his mother-in-law is not a thing. Nothing can save him,” Lively said on Instagram.
Closing Up The Coffee Shop For Now
For Reynold’s buddy, Hugh Jackman, the coronavirus led to him temporarily shutting down his Laughing Man cafes in NYC. “We feel this is the best course of action to ensure the safety of our staff and community. We also feel it is the right thing for the larger community of NYC,” the actor said on Instagram. “We want to be a place of healthy interaction and not a potential danger to you. This is a time when we find new depths to our motto ALL BE HAPPY and hope, more than ever, for it to help guide humanity.”
Jackman co-founded Laughing Man back in 2011 after meeting a coffee farmer in Ethiopia. “By creating Laughing Man Coffee, I saw an opportunity to make a difference in the world with exceptional coffee,” Jackman told The Drum. “Every person has the power to make a difference, and it can be as simple as supporting products like Laughing Man Coffee that also give back, are Fair Trade Certified and have a mission to make the world a better place.”
Everyone’s Lending A Helping Hand
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively aren’t the only celebrities doing their part in easing coronavirus issues. Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet revealed he’s donating meals in his hometown of Kansas City. “I am donating 200,000 meals to @HarvestersORG in Kansas City. Lindsay and I love our hometown and want to help do what we can. I’m only posting this to maybe motivate you to do what you can, when you can, if you can, to help vulnerable families in our community during this time,” the actor tweeted.
Singer Ciara and NFL player Russell Wilson also revealed plans to donate one million meals to Seattle’s Food Lifeline. “The world needs us ALL. These are unprecedented times. We are supporting our community in Seattle by donating 1 million meals with Seattle @FoodLifeLine. Rally with us and support your local food bank @FeedingAmerica We can all make a difference together. Let’s all keep the Faith during this difficult time,” Ciara stated on Instagram.
While this is a serious situation, it’s always great seeing celebrities give back to those in need. With enough support, many will be able to make it through this predicament unharmed. When it’s over, everyone will be ecstatic to return to normalcy and catch their favorite kind-hearted celebrities on the big and small screen.
