Why Are Ryan Gosling And Eva Mendes Rarely Spotted Together?

Updated

on

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes are very rarely spotted out together now, even though they’ve been together for years. While the couple loves each other and their kids, what could be the reason they’ve shied away from the public eye?

Solo Red Carpet Affairs

When Gosling and Mendes first started dating in 2011, they were seen together in photos and on the red carpet. That could partly be because they promoted their film, The Place Beyond the Pines, together. However, when their relationship became a little more serious, they slowly retreated from the cameras… at least as a couple.

Both Mendes and Gosling often do industry appearances but never with each other. Though it’s widely known that they’re married, they rarely use each other’s names in interviews, opting instead for terms like “sweetheart” or “my lady”.  The couple often shuts down any personal questions in interviews about their relationship. While some have wondered if there was trouble in paradise, there is another perfectly logical reason.

Keeping Things On The Down Low

The real reason the couple isn’t spotted out together too often? The Hollywood stars are incredibly private and protective over their relationship. Mendes and Gosling keep their personal affairs out of the spotlight, and it’s seemed to work for them so far.

If you think that the couple is intensely private about their love life, they’re even more protective over their kids! Gosling and Mendes have two daughters: Esmeralda Amada Gosling and Amada Lee Gosling. The girls have been mostly guarded from the cameras in an attempt to give them a normal upbringing.

Moments of Vulnerability

Even though Gosling and Mendes mostly stay quiet about their relationship and kids, they can’t help but gush about their family every now and then. Mendes admitted that she rather have a quiet night at home than be at any big Hollywood event. “What people don’t know about me is that I love being home,” she shared in an interview. “Instead of hitting the red carpet, I’d rather be with our girls.”

Recently, Gosling appeared on a special Games Night episode of Jimmy Kimmel LiveHe jokingly revealed that he hadn’t actually had a chance to prepare by watching any of the games prior because of his kids. “I have a two-year-old and a three-and-a-half-year-old, so, let’s be honest, I’m not watching anything that doesn’t have a talking tiger in it,” he laughed.

The couple will more than likely continue to keep their family private, but it seems to be the path that works best for them.
