Strike A Pose With These ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Facts

Published

on

For ten explosive seasons, VH1’s RuPaul’s Drag Race has been showcasing some of the best drag queens in the world. With season 11 coming through in 2019, there’s no stopping this Emmy nomination show. We take a look at five facts about the program that are simply flawless.

Packing Their Prada Bags

Eliminations occur whenever you’re in the bottom. There have been two instances when people safe from eliminations were still asked to leave. Towards the end of season four, Willam Belli was eliminated after breaching his contract. During the show, he had visits from his husband, which was against the rules. In season nine, David Huggard a.k.a. Eureka O’Hara was eliminated after suffering a knee injury.

What’s In A Name?

129 marvelous Queens have battled for the crown for 10 seasons. It’s hard to forget many of them with names such as Sasha Velour, Sharon Needles, and Pandora Boxx. One interesting note about all of these Queens is that not one has had a name that began with the letters Z, U, Q, or X.

Back To Basics

Many reality shows don’t allow their contestants to use cell phones. RuPaul’s Drag Race is no different. If contestants need to speak with staff, they have to use a simple pen and pencil. Having notes slipped under the door can seem a bit awkward at first, but they get used to it.

Not Today, Satan

Much like American Idol, each winner of the show has been releasing music. The only person to not do this is Bianca Del Rio, who won season six. Instead of music, the New Orleans native returned to acting with 2016’s Hurricane Bianca. The film was created with earnings made from RuPaul’s Drag Race. A sequel was released in 2018 titled Hurricane Bianca 2: From Russia with Hate.

On The Safe Side

Spoilers from reality shows have been known to slip on occasion from determined fans. In order to avoid that from occurring, each Queen is filmed as the winner. When it comes to the finale’s airing, the true winner will be revealed to everyone. This makes the reactions from the Queens online more authentic.
