Ruby Rose Is Full Of Surprises: Here Are 5 Things You Never Knew

Published

on

Ruby Rose has truly made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Between music, fashion, movies, and TV, she has been very successful. Though she’s in the public eye, there are still some things that she’s kept private. Intrigued? You should be. Discover what makes this lady so cool.

Model Behavior

Rose got her start in the fashion industry in 2002. She joined a model search for Girlfriend Magazine, a top publication in her native Australia. She ultimately won the competition, which gave her the opportunity to be the face of Maybelline. She also scored covers of Vogue, Nylon, and Marie Claire.

Jamming For MTV

Not only was Rose a model, but she also was a VJ for MTV Australia! She competed for the spot against 2,000 people, having to do some pretty crazy challenges. One included kissing strangers on the street, while another was drinking 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes. Rose pushed through them all to win the gig!

The Battle Against Depression

In 2016, Rose vulnerably revealed a secret: she suffers from depression. It was a constant battle that made her feel like she “failed at being a human being.” She tried both therapy and rehab and was even hospitalized at one point. However, she continued to fight the mental illness and has inspired others to do the same.

Making A Transition?

Growing up, Rose believed that she was a boy on the inside. She even started saving money to make a permanent change. Rose collected spare change whenever she could for the operation, which cost $20,000. However, later on, she realized that she was indeed a woman, and was glad she didn’t actually get the surgery.

Fighting For Animals

The actress has two dogs of her own that she adores, but she is truly dedicated to saving animals across the globe. She consistently speaks out on the importance of treating animals well, committing to a completely vegan lifestyle. Rose even did an anti-fur campaign for PETA back in 2011.
