Rosie O’Donnell Reconnects With Daughter Chelsea Following Pregnancy Announcement

After years of making headlines for their notoriously dysfunctional relationship, it seems as though former The View co-host Rosie O’Donnell has finally patched things up with her 20-year-old daughter Chelsea Alliegro. Their unexpected reunion came about following the announcement of Alliegro’s pregnancy, which she revealed in September of last year.

Rosie’s Rocky Road

“Yes, she is pregnant,” O’Donnell, 56, recently confirmed to the press through her representative. “We have reconnected.”

In previous interviews, the expecting mother had suggested that she was not interested in allowing O’Donnell into her life again. “I’ve always wanted a family and I’m looking forward to it. But Rosie will not be in my child’s life — and no, I do not feel sad about that, to be honest.”

The Feud Erupts

Rosie O’Donnell held nothing back in her response, which she tweeted soon after. “She’s 20… not a teen… she is married and pregnant… she doesn’t want anything to do with me… great stop… doing interviews go live ur life. We have been here before Chelsea… u wanna go a few rounds in public… seems so… Michelle’s death = money 4 Chelsea.”

The pair’s on-and-off conflicts came to a head in 2015 when O’Donnell reported the teenage girl missing and sent the police to find her. Soon afterward Alliegro was discovered at the house of her then-boyfriend, evidently having run away from home.

A Happy Ending

“We ended up screaming at each other and I left the room,” said Alliegro about the incident that put their bond on hold. “Growing up, I never really got along with her and then once she kicked me out, I was just kind of done.”

Fortunately, it seems as though time really does heal all wounds. Perhaps it was the bun in the oven that brought the disrupted family back together.
