Rosario Dawson Joins Cast For ‘Zombieland 2’

Published

on

The horror-comedy sequel Zombieland 2 has added Rosario Dawson to the cast.  She joins the original cast, including Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin and Woody Harrelson. The original Zombieland grossed just $75 million domestically and $102.3 million globally. The film became a cult hit after leaving theaters.

The Sequel

Zombieland 2 won’t be featuring the zombies we remember. Now there is a new kind of zombie the group must face, ones that have evolved since the original 2009 film into “Ninja” zombies. There will also be some new human survivors and growing pains within the makeshift family the group creates.

The film will be directed by Ruben Fleischer, the filmmaker behind the original movie. He will be bringing back the original writers as well, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who worked together on Deadpool and Deadpool 2. As well as the original cast and writers, Bill Murray will also be coming back in a cameo role just like the original. There are also rumors that Ghostbusters star Dan Akroyd may be joining as well.

Zombieland 2 Cast

You may remember Dawson from her films Grindhouse and Sin City, as well as her role as Claire Temple in Netflix’s Marvel series Luke Cage. There are no current details on the role she will be playing, but she joins a strong cast for the sequel.

New additions to the movie’s cast also include Zoey Deutch. She will be playing a new character named Madison, though not much else is known yet.

Upcoming Release

The movie is set to arrive in theaters on October 11, the anniversary of the first film’s release. The director is coming off of Sony’s Venom, which was a big hit with $855.8 million globally, and a hopeful indicator of additional successs moving forward.

With a strong cast and excited fans awaiting the latest storyline, the cult favorite’s legacy is sure to continue with this latest installment.
