Horror game fans simply can’t get enough of the Resident Evil 2 remake. Developed by Capcom, the game reunites you with Leon and Claire with a fresh new coat of paint. Now, another game in the franchise is looking to get the same treatment.

A Nemesis For Us All

There are talks of a Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake being in development right now. This remake is rumored to be released sometime in early 2020. While some might think this is a bit rushed, it’s simply not the case.

The Resident Evil 2 remake was announced at last year’s E3 to a roaring response. That game was put in development back in 2015. There are talks of the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake being worked on by a completely different company. To make things quicker, they could easily use the models from the Resident Evil 2 remake. This would also mirror the release of the original games. Resident Evil 2 was released in 1998 while Nemesis was unveiled in 1999.

A Whole Different Game?

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was originally planned to be a spin-off with Hunk as the protagonist. Because of the PlayStation 2’s forthcoming release, they dropped the idea. “Code: Veronica was a Dreamcast exclusive game, the scenario for ZERO was just getting started, and Mr. Kamiya’s team was forced to go back to the drawing board to design for the PlayStation 2. This meant that fans on the PlayStation would have to wait several years for the next sequel, a scenario that Capcom wanted to avoid,” writer Yasuhisa Kawamura told Project Umbrella.

Nemesis has sold over eight million copies worldwide. In the game, players control Jill Valentine, who returned from the first Resident Evil game. Overall, the Resident Evil franchise sold over 90 million copies worldwide. It also spawned a movie franchise that earned $1.2 billion at the box office.

Let The Cash Flow

Since its release, Resident Evil 2 remake has sold over three million copies. Fans can expect this game to earn a slew of wins at various award shows.

If Nemesis remake does drop in 2020, Capcom will continue to roll in the dough.
