Elle Woods Is Back! Reese Witherspoon, MGM Set To Produce ‘Legally Blonde 3’

It’s time to “bend and snap!” Everyone’s favorite lawyer Elle Woods (portrayed by Reese Witherspoon) is returning to the big screen in Legally Blonde 3. Produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and Witherspoon’s media company, Hello Sunshine, fans of the original will definitely be excited to learn what Elle has been up to lately.

What, Like It’s Hard?

It has been 17 years since Legally Blonde and 15 years since its sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde. Because so many years have passed since the sequel, it could be difficult to produce an impressive third film. However, as Elle would say, “What, like it’s hard?”

The third film is bringing back most of the creative team from the first film, including Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah, who will be returning as screenwriters. In addition, original producer Marc Platt and his Platt Productions president Adam Siegal are producing the film, this time joined by Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine media group.

What’s The Plot?

While an official plot hasn’t been announced, reports suggest that the new film will have the same lively spirit as the first film. Woods’ idealism and feminist spirit prevailed over the cynicism and snobby elitism surrounding her at Harvard Law School.

The Hollywood Reporter

The sequel brought Woods to Washington D.C. to join the legal staff of a congresswoman to pass a bill to ban animal testing. The upcoming third film is promising to deliver a film more focused on female empowerment—a message especially important in today’s culture.

Why Are People Excited?

This is a question with an easy answer: Because Elle Woods is awesome. Legally Blonde inspired young women to pursue careers in male-dominated fields. The original film grossed $141 million worldwide and has influenced women to always believe in themselves.

Vanity Fair

The upcoming third film is intended to connect with the audience who fell in love with the original film and find a new audience. We look forward to watching Elle Woods’ newest chapter!
