Rebel Wilson To Bring Image Comics’ ‘Crowded’ To Life In Film Adaptation

Published

on

Rebel Wilson has earned praise for her work in the Pitch Perfect franchise. But one thing that she has never been able to put on her résumé was working on a comic book film. Fortunately, that’s all about to change.

Not Too Crowded

Rebel Wilson has recently announced that she will produce and star in an adaptation of Image Comics’ Crowded. The Australian native will produce it through her  company, Camp Sugar. There’s no word yet on who else will join Wilson in the film.

Warner Bros.

Wilson also recently produced the films Isn’t It Romantic and The Hustle, which will both be released in 2019.

Image Is Everything

Crowded, which was revealed earlier this year at Image Expo, will hit store shelves in August. The book deals with a dark future involving crowdfunding. Reapr is one of the biggest crowdfunding platforms for assassinations. Charlie Ellison has somehow found herself as the target of a million dollar campaign. She must find out exactly who wants her dead before the campaign ends.

Image Comics

Christopher Sebela is the head writer for this new series. With several Eisner Award nominations to his name, fans can expect some intense storytelling. Creating the art are Ro Stein and Ted Brandt. This will continue the string of Image Comics making the jump to the big screen. Recently, it was announced that a Spawn reboot and a film based on Invincible were in the works. In 2012, films based on The Darkness and The Armory Wars were announced, but there have been no updates since the reveal.

Mad As Rabbits

Wilson is currently working on the film Jojo Rabbit with Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, and Roman Griffin. The film deals with a young boy who has Adolf Hitler as an imaginary friend during World War II.

Pascal Le Segretain

The movie is being directed by Taika Waititi, who worked on last year’s blockbuster Thor: Ragnarok.
