At one point, Amanda Bynes was one of the biggest Nickelodeon stars out there. Unfortunately, the actress publicly found herself dealing with a slew of personal issues. One day, she simply vanished from our radar. Aside from the obvious, here are some reasons why she’s been shutting herself off from the public.

No Good Roles

For most of her career, Bynes always had the “good girl” roles. The actress wanted to branch out and dive into something daring. “I’d love to do something that would shock people, something that’s against type,” she told Cosmopolitan. Unfortunately, those roles never came, so she decided to take a break from acting.

Getting Some Education

One of Bynes’ biggest accomplishments was graduating from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in 2018. She enlisted in the institute in 2013 and has spent most of her time studying. “We are all so proud of her, and can’t wait to see her amazing designs on the runway someday,” family lawyer Tamar Arminak told US Weekly.

When it comes to Twitter, Bynes was all over the place. It was hard to not see one of her wild tweets pop up anywhere. Nowadays, she’s barely on social media anymore.  “Everything I worked my whole life to achieve, I kind of ruined it all through Twitter. It’s definitely not Twitter’s fault — it’s my own fault,” she told Paper Magazine.

Media Looking In

As a young star, the press can make or break your reputation. With so many negative things written about her, Bynes had a rough time. “It definitely isn’t fun when people diagnose you with what they think you are,” she told Paper Magazine. Nowadays, the press has been a bit more forgiving towards her past actions.

Nothing But Enablers

Like any other actor, Bynes was surrounded by a slew of people. Unfortunately, some of them might’ve played a role in encouraging her wild behavior. “There is a moral bridge you get to: What’s more important, the representation of a client or the health and welfare of a human being?” an unnamed talent agent told The Hollywood Reporter.
