Plus-Size Model Gets Body-Shamed But Her Brand Wasn’t Having It

It takes real courage to go outside and exercise when you’re on the larger side. Not only do people say the cruelest things, but it can even be a real challenge to find the supplies you need to get started.

This Is Anna O’Brien’s Story

Meet Anna O’Brien. She’s from New York and she works as a fashion model. She has a very active Instagram account. She says that as you might expect, she has some experience of the challenges of staying fit when you’re plus-sized.

She wants you to know that getting clothing in the right size is a real problem. In fact, “This single challenge is one of the greatest barriers to plus-size women becoming active,” she says.

Enter Academy Sports And Outdoors

Academy Sports and Outdoors is a brand dedicated to making fitness accessible to all. They point out, quite rightly, that if you can’t find the clothing to get fit in – you’re never going to get fit. So, they recently made Anna the face of their plus-sized clothing line.

As you can see from the photos, Anna’s not as unfit as you might expect from a woman her size, and she has really enjoyed being the face of Academy Sports and Outdoors.

The Fly In The Ointment Is The Troll Under The Bridge

Sadly, not everyone sees this campaign as a positive thing. One person wrote on her Instagram, “This is disgusting. You are making being fat a good thing. People should be ashamed of being fat not proud.”

Anna’s no stranger to hurtful stuff like this, but before she could reply to James the troll, Academy Sports and Outdoors stepped up to the plate for her, writing: “Hi James, at Academy, we believe every woman should have the same opportunity to enjoy sports and the outdoors. As a result, we will continue to represent a wide range of body types. We’re all different, but our access to a lifestyle shouldn’t be.”

After that, there’s nothing left to say. Well done Academy, justice is served.

Neverland Ranch is Back On The Market: Take A Look Around the Amusement Park

Situated in the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Monica, California, the almost 3,000 acre plot of land upon which Neverland Ranch was constructed has recently been placed back on the market. Nowadays, the one-time residence of international pop sensation Michael Jackson is going by a new name: Sycamore Valley Ranch. Much of the estate is as it was during the 15 years Jackson called it his home, except for a few glaring differences – namely, the removal of the fun-fair rides that gave the home its whimsical name Neverland Ranch. The very last vestiges of where the carousel once spun are still visible as you go through the grounds. Read on for an in-depth view of the ranch.
