This “Pirates Of The Caribbean” Shakeup Will Put A Female As Lead Pirate | DirectExpose. Whle this is a significant change in itself, the possibly bigger news is who will be replacing him.

Long-time Role

Johnny Depp has been a significant piece of the Pirates equation since the beginning. So much so, in fact, that the films have grown increasingly reliant on his character for everything from their plot to sometimes overdone comic relief.

Vanity Fair

While Depp played this major role throughout the Pirates installments, it is possible that the overuse of his character was beginning to make the movies a bit stale.

Time For A Change

With rumors that Depp’s infamous character is on his way out of the series, the big question is who will take his place. With that has come the rumor that a character from the famous Pirates Of The Caribbean Disney World ride will take over the lead role.

The Independent

A new report has come out from HN Entertainment states that this is in fact true and that the Disney character is a female pirate by the name of Redd. Thus speculation has ensued about who will play this female pirate. Two of the rumored options are Daisy Ridley and Karen Gillan.

New Writers

It has also been reported that the Pirates franchise will be taken on by new writers. Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese of Deadpool’s writer room are apparently the new additions to the swashbuckling Disney series, though there is not a finished script at this point.

Script Magazine

Although Johnny Depp‘s famous character Jack Sparrow was a major part of the PIrates Of The Caribbean series there often comes a time in film for making big changes. This is quite true for the Pirates franchise and certainly it is always positive to hear that a female is taking the lead. So where will the pirates sail to next? We’ll just have to wait and see.
