The Twitter post was from Meriah Jae who wrote: “So my sis adopted her very first dog and his before and after pics have me crying. Adopt don’t shop”

The tweet has been liked almost 400,000 times and shared over 135,000 times by pet lovers everywhere.

The pre-adoption photo showed the miserable-looking dog sitting on a cot, staring blankly into space while inside a small kennel. The post-adoption pictures, however, showed the change in temperament. The pooch seems to be enjoying hisnew life, catching balls at the beach, lounging near water, and grinning for the camera wearing a purple flower crown.

Meriah Jae’s encouragement for dog lovers to adopt instead of buying means a lot especially since her photos featured a pit bull, one of the least-adoptable-pets in shelters. It is unfortunate that pit bulls are four times harder to get adopted along with senior pets, pets with special needs, and adult cats.

Pet Finder Foundation Vice President Emily Fromm told Huffington Post that pit bulls are not attractive to people looking for pets because of the negative reputation attached to their breed.

Hopefully, Meriah Jae’s interesting and cute post will help people change their minds about pit bulls.
