Pete Davidson, up and coming Saturday Night Live comedian, and Ariana Grande, the pop singer superstar, have broken off their engagement. The two started dating in May and quickly decided to spend their lives together, gathering a collection of couples tattoos and a pet pig to boot. However, in his first post-engagement appearance, E! News says Davidson now thinks his decision to propose was a bad idea from the start.
The Engagement Was a ‘Stupid’ Idea
Pete Davidson made his first public performance alongside Judd Apatow at the Judd & Pete for America charity event. On stage, he talked about fans’ opinions on the engagement: “…When me and her first got engaged we got tattoos. And it was like in a magazine like, ‘Was Pete Davidson stupid?’ And 93 percent of it said yes.”

The Cut
Apparently, friends of Davidson agreed the engagement was a mistake: “So my boy, he was like, ‘Don’t listen to that s–t man. They’re literally f–king haters.’ And I’m like, yeah, f–k that. I’m not stupid. And the other day we were in my kitchen and he was like, ‘Yo bro. Turns out you were stupid.'”
Davidson And Grande Taking Their Split In Stride
When the news of their split became public, both Grande and Davidson were cordial about the event. They agreed that while they both loved each other very much, it was “not the right time for their relationship to take off.”

Many fans aren’t too surprised by the news, especially after Grande admits that 2017 and 2018 were hard years for her. In May 2017 a terrorist attack killed 22 of her fans at a concert, and in September 2018, her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller died of a suspected drug overdose.
Davidson Shares His Relatable Regrets And Post-Breakup Changes
During the Judd & Pete for America event, Davidson also made light-hearted comments about the changes he would have to make now that he’s not with Grande. He asked the crowd, “Does anybody have any open rooms? Looking for a roommate?” A lot of us can relate to the struggle he’s going through.

He also told the crowd, “Um, I’ve been covering a bunch of tattoos, that’s fun.” Many fans of both stars thought the tattoos were too much too fast. But perhaps there is still hope for these lovebirds in the future.
