Ozzy Osbourne Plans To Continue Making Music Even After His Frightening Fall At Home

Ozzy Osbourne

In January, iconic rocker Ozzy Osbourne was the victim of a fall in his own home. The accident led to him going under the knife three times and canceling all live performances. Now, Osbourne is back, and he’s proclaiming to keep making music until his last breath.

A Scary Moment At Home

In an interview The Sun, Osbourne discussed his frightening fall. Following the incident, he confined himself to his bed. In Osbourne’s mind, his days were numbered. “Sharon was saying, ‘You’ve got to get out of bed’. I would say, ‘What’s the point, I’m dying’. There were many times I thought, ‘I’m done’. I was scared. I thought that was it,” Osbourne told the publication.

Before the fall, Osbourne dealt with some health scares. In October, he had surgery on his hand to remove a potential staph infection. Months after surgery, he contracted pneumonia from flu complications. “I was sitting in a rigid pose for three months. I had to have nurses 24/7. I am walking better now but I’m not 100 percent on my feet. It has been unbelievable,” Osbourne told The Sun.

One Life-Threatening Ride

During his career, Osbourne has dealt with a slew of near-death experiences. One major situation involved his ATV flipping over on him in 2003. This left Osbourne with eight fractured ribs, a damaged vertebrae, and a broken collarbone. His heart also stopped beating for one minute. For several days, the singer was left in a comatose state. Fortunately, doctors at Wexham Park Hospital were able to fix him up.

The house fall damaged some rods placed from the ATV accident. “Years ago, he had a motorbike accident, where he was in a coma for days. And what he’d done was he re-injured his back and neck and shoulders. All of the metal rods and everything that were put in his body were dislodged. So we had to cancel his year events. But he’s good, he’s fine, he’s great,” Ozzy’s wife Sharon said on The Talk.

Performing On Stage Again Soon

One thing Osbourne’s anticipating is getting back on the road. Next summer, he’ll kick off his rescheduled North American tour. At the beginning of the year, he’ll embark on a trek across Europe. He’ll also release a brand new album, which will be his first release in 10 years. Osbourne began working on the album after hitting the studio with rapper Post Malone. “I’d never even heard of this kid. He wanted me to sing on his song “Take What You Want,” so I did, and then one thing led to another,” Osbourne told The Sun. “I started recording a new album with Post Malone’s producer Andrew Watt. It’s only nine tracks, but it was a catalyst to get me to where I am today.” Watt is best known for his work with Hailee Steinfeld, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Rita Ora.

Osbourne’s collaboration with Post Malone became his second top 10 single in his illustrious career. His first one came in 1988 with “Close My Eyes Forever,” which was a collaboration with Lita Ford. The 30-year gap between these top 10 appearances is the longest one for a musical artist.

Osbourne is nervous about performing again, but he won’t let any situation keep him from music. “The knocks you suffer stay with you. I’m hoping to be fully better for the tour. I’m still scared of falling as I’m a bit unsteady on my feet and getting my balance back,” Osbourne told The Sun. “If my balance is OK, I will be fine. But I’m not retiring. I’m going to keep making music until I drop dead.”
