on

A TV series is on the way based on Stephen King’s novel The Outsiders. Media Rights Capital (MRC), which is adapting the novel, has already brought on writer Richard Price from The Night Of to put together the script. According to Variety, Jason Bateman and Ben Mendelsohn will be joining the cast in the upcoming adaption.

The Latest Cast Members

You may remember Mendelsohn from his role on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He’s also starred in Ready Player One, The Dark Knight Rises, and Animal Kingdom. This show will mark his return to television after the successful series Bloodline.

Jason Bateman on the other hand is often remembered for his role on Arrested Development. However, surprisingly, he will be behind the camera for this project. Bateman recently made the transition to star/director/executive producer with the Netflix hit drama Ozark. He is set to direct the first two episodes.

Stephen King’s Novel

The story is about the investigation of a local boy’s murder which leads a cop and an unorthodox investigator to question everything they know to be real. The man arrested for the murder, Maitlin, has an ironclad alibi since he was at a conference and seen by witnesses. However, his DNA was found at the murder scene along with fingerprints.

Stephen King’s recent release hit bookshelves in May 2018 and has already been picked up for the big screen. This adds another title to the King collection, with The Dark Tower, It,  and more having been adapted in the past few years.

Arrival To HBO

This mysterious plot and announcement has people excited to hear more about the upcoming TV series. HBO ordered the small-town investigation with supernatural swerve 10-episode limited series.

While the series currently has no date set for release, the fans of King and both actors are excited to hear more announcements about King’s most recent adaptation to the screen.
