Is Old the New Young? Apparently in Fashion…

Published

on

Let’s face it after the worst economic recession since the great depression, college graduates with no stable jobs, and minimum wages at a standstill… millennials are broke. In the 2000’s fashion designer label were reaching a much younger demographic than ever before in history but now that has all changed. The Fashion industry always had a hypocritical view point on age. When you reach 27 years old that’s pretty much the cut off of your modeling career but the head honchos are overwhelmingly mature and call the shots. The industry is all about money if you didn’t know that already so they had to appeal to a new mature market instead. Julia Roberts is the new spokesperson for Givenchy, no surprise her fan base is 45 plus range.

Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2015 ad followed the same suit with featuring three older elegant ladies. Common sense this is for the “Silver” economy as Wall Street likes to describe it. Apparently there is new market class of 60 plus with investments, IRAs and disposable income. They still want to be in style so why shouldn’t the designers cater to their mature fashion needs. Everyone knows senior fashion is not stylish whatsoever but this can all change. Why not have the right to style in your glory years? Regardless young people will still have a hard time entering, creating, and consuming fashion as long as the gate keepers are still at the door.

Every Celebrity Romance You Don’t Remember, But Now Will Never Forget Again

If we’ve heard it once, we’ve heard it a hundred times in every celebrity interview, A-listers like to date each other because they say it makes it easier if their partner understands the demands of their job. We get it. But just because they were dating within “the biz” doesn’t guarantee that their love was built to last.
