A video of Sister Margaret Ann, principal of Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll High School in Miami, went viral after gaining 7 million views in less than three days. The video was posted by the Miami-Dade Police Department on Facebook and shows the nun operating a chainsaw to clear away a fallen tree that had fallen during Hurricane Irma and was blocking the roadway in the school’s neighborhood .

“She is truly an example of what a servant of God will do. It was just incredible,” said Officer Silvia Nadal who spotted and captured the nun at work on the video.
Nadal was surprised by the nun’s dedication considering that she was not dressed comfortably and the heat was stifling. The officer also informed the nun that the police department would send crews with the task of cleaning up the area, but the sister was insistent on helping.
“We have no exit,” the nun proclaimed to Nadal. He recalled how she emphasized that they were closed in from all sides, and she believed that she could help by emphatically stating, “I can do it.”

Apparently, Sister Margaret Ann learned how to operate the chainsaw by searching the internet:
“I actually had to Google it to find out how to start it because I’d forgotten how … ,” Sister Margaret Ann said. “The students have told me everything is online, sister; just ask the question online.”
Apart from learning things off the internet, the nun also explained that she received a lot of tips from people who saw the video and commented online.
“Some people have sent me videos on how to use a chainsaw because apparently, I wasn’t using it correctly or as safe as I should’ve been, so I’m learning, too,” Sister Margaret stated.

While the nun is not particularly craving attention, she is still grateful that her viral video gave the public a different perspective on nuns and what they are capable of doing.
“The students are telling me, they are saying, ‘Sister, you’re no wimp. You’ll get out there and work with us.’ And that is really the way it should be, and that’s the way sisters really are. We are not just sitting back praying, or asking other people, or begging for money or anything like that,” the nun said.
