Nicollette Sheridan Shockingly Bids Farewell To ‘Dynasty’

Losing a cast member is never easy for anyone involved on a show. From a lack of interest to being fired, there are numerous reasons to exit a series. One popular revival series managed to lose a main cast member for tragic reasons.

An Emergency Exit

Nicollette Sheridan revealed that she’s leaving The CW’s Dynasty at the end of season two. Her reason for leaving involves her ill mother. “Working on the Dynasty reboot and reprising the iconic role of Alexis has been thoroughly enjoyable, but the chance to spend precious time with my terminally ill mother is more important to me right now,” she said.

The CW

The CW is supportive of Sheridan’s heartbreaking decision for leaving the show. “Nicollette Sheridan will be leaving Dynasty in order to focus on some personal family responsibilities. She was a valuable asset to the show and we wish her continued success in the future,” a network spokesperson said.

Knocking It Out The Park

Sheridan joined the series in a recurring role as Alexis Carrington during the first season. For season two, she got bumped to the main cast. While Sheridan never saw the original Dynasty, she made sure to bring her A game for Alexis.

The CW

“She’s challenging as a person and for an actress to play her. She’s quite obtuse, really. From being this power monger to being this big kind heart who really does love these children of hers. When you fill in everything in between, there’s nothing she can or cannot do,” Sheridan told Entertainment Weekly.

A New Replacement?

Sheridan’s exit leaves a huge hole in the series. In the original Dynasty, Alexis is one of the biggest villains ever seen. The producers are stuck with the task of either dropping the character or casting someone else. If the role does get recast, Sheridan wants everyone to continue supporting the show.

The CW

“I am hopeful that my fans will embrace my successor with as much passion as they embraced me,” she said.
