Nicholas Hoult’s Surprising Thoughts About Ex-Girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence

Whether you’re a celebrity or not, dating will always be hard. Trying to make things work can lead to more problems in the end. A nasty breakup will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Fortunately, one former celebrity couple still manages to get along with each other.

On Set Romance

While shooting the 2011 film X Men: First Class, Nicholas Hoult began dating Jennifer Lawrence. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out, and the pair split in 2014.

While speaking to Evening Standard Magazine, he spoke about working with his ex years later. “It’s pretty similar to Skins, we’re a big family, we’ve been doing those movies since we were 20 years old. As much as the Skins crowd grew up together, the X-Men crowd really grew up together. It’s been a good eight, nine years making those movies,” Hoult said.

Love In Different Places

Following the pair’s breakup, they continued working with each other on X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse. As expected, their dating lives took completely different turns. Lawrence has been seen dating Coldplay singer Chris Martin and Mother! director Darren Aronofsky. In 2018, it was revealed that she was in a relationship with art gallery director Cooke Maroney.

In 2017, Hoult started dating model Bryana Holly. The following year, they welcomed their first child together. “Having a baby puts you in this place where you go, ‘Oh, OK, this human is going to change a lot. It makes you value time differently, which is why I talk very quickly in interviews now, because I need to get home to them,” Hoult told Evening Standard Magazine.

There For Each Other

Aside from the X-Men movies, they’ve been very supportive of each other’s work. Back in September, Lawrence showed up to the premiere of The Favourite, which stars Hoult.

For Lawrence, there’s nothing wrong with keeping touch with their exes. “I’m friends with all my exes, actually. For the most part. I have a theory: I think it’s because I’m blunt. I don’t think that you can have any sort of bad relationship with anybody if you’re just blunt,” she said on Marc Maron’s podcast. Lawrence and Hoult will join forces again for Dark Phoenix, which releases on June 7.
