New Stranger Things 3 Teaser Trailer Brings Us Back To The ’80s

Published

on

Stranger Things is Netflix’s most popular series, and has been for the last couple of years. Fans have been craving more episodes since its second season was released in October 2017. With production currently underway for the third season, fans received a special gift last week in the form of a teaser trailer revealing an entirely new setting in Hawkins, Indiana.

Where We Left Off

In case you may have forgotten what happened in the series’ second season finale, it was chock full of emotional closure. Spoiler alert: Eleven was reunited with her friends, helped save them by closing the gate to the Upside Down, and the kids all attended the Snow Ball dance. But the final shot revealed the Mind Flayer looming over Hawkins Middle School, hinting that the third season will involve more torment from this supernatural creature.

Everything We Know About Season Three

There hasn’t been much information released about the series’ upcoming third season. We can’t blame the producers for wanting to prevent spoilers, but they have hinted at a few possibilities. For one thing, the season will take place during the summer of 1985. New characters will be introduced. Characters will venture outside Hawkins, Indiana for more adventures—but they will also explore an entirely new setting right in town that was revealed last week.

Welcome To Starcourt

If you grew up during the 1980s, then you know shopping malls were the popular “hang-out” spot for teenagers. Last week, the Netflix original series released a teaser trailer featuring a brand new setting for the upcoming third season. In the video, fans are introduced to Starcourt, a new mall in Hawkins, Indiana. Everything about this teaser trailer screams “nostalgia.”

Bringing You Back To The ’80s

Stranger Things has always provided plenty of 1980s throwback references, including Eggo waffles, music, commercials, soap operas, clothes, movie references, now-obsolete technology, and many more. But now, the teaser trailer looks like it was actually made in the 1980s, in everything from the graphics to the narration.

Are we really back in the 1980s?

One Familiar Face

The new teaser trailer also showcased the fictional ice cream shop, Scoops Ahoy, at Starcourt. One familiar character is seen working at the shop — Steve Harrington (played by Joe Keery). It appears he’s working a summer job, along with newcomer Maya Hawke. Maybe Steve will sneak the kids some free ice cream?

Stranger Things is scheduled to be released in 2019, and we can’t wait to see what will happen next to our favorite characters.
