This New ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ Project Isn’t What You Think

Fans of the ’90s lost their minds when a new Beverly Hills 90210 project was announced. With the original cast in tow, this is sure to be ratings gold. Unfortunately, this new venture won’t be a reboot or a revival. It’s something completely out of left field.

Having A Good Laugh

Numerous sources have stated this new project will find the cast poking fun of themselves. The premise of the show finds the original cast trying to get another 90210 revival in the works.

Fox

This hour long mockumentary series has been shopped around to various networks. As expected, some streaming services have also thrown their hat in the bidding war.

Who’s Actually Confirmed?

Not everyone from the original series will be taking part of the series. As of this writing, Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty have not signed up for the show yet. Perry is currently busy portraying Fred Andrews in the hit CW drama Riverdale. Doherty has a string of movies in the works, including How to Make a Deal with the Devil.

SYFY

Fortunately, Gabrielle Carteris, Jennie Garth, Brian Austin Green, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, and Ian Ziering are confirmed. Since the original show ended, some of these stars have made interesting career choices. Ziering is mostly known as the face of the highly popular Sharknado franchise. Priestley has found success on Canadian TV with leading roles in Call Me Fitz and Private Eyes. Since 2016, Carteris has been president of the Screen Actors Guild.

In Good Hands

This new Beverly Hills 90210 project will be worked on by Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler. Both people worked on The CW’s 90210 revival back in 2008. Lasting five seasons, the revival also featured Garth, Spelling, and Doherty in their beloved roles.

Alberghini and Chessler are no strangers to doing satirical shows. Back in 2006, they co-developed Spelling’s sitcom So NoTORIous. That show earned them a GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series.
