Netflix’s ‘The Haunting Of Hill House’ Returns In An Unexpected Way

Published

on

The Haunting of Hill House has been giving people nightmares since its debut. Everyone wanted more of the suspense with the Crain family. Fortunately, the show is coming back for a second season. There is one major twist surrounding its renewal, though.

An Eternal Haunting

The Haunting of Hill House will simply be known as The Haunting. This name change isn’t some hip way to market itself. The show will transition into a full-blown anthology series. Each season will involve a different piece of horror literature.

Netflix

Season two will be known as The Haunting of Bly Manor. This will be based on the Henry James novel The Turn of the Screw. This won’t be the first time The Turn of the Screw has made its way to television. ABC drama Dark Shadows featured a year-long storyline based on the novel. It also made its way to certain episodes in Star Trek: Voyager.

Fresh New Stories

When asked about a second season back in October, showrunner Mike Flanagan had this idea in mind. “I think that there are all sorts of different directions we could go in, with the house or with something completely different. I love the idea of an anthology as well,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Netflix

TV anthologies have found great success with American Horror Story, True Detective, and Fargo.

Creating More Madness

As expected, Netflix is thrilled to work with Flanagan and executive producer Trevor Macy on more stories. “Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy are masterful at creating authentically frightening stories that leave audiences on the edge of their seats but unable to look away. We’re excited to continue our partnership with them on The Haunting series and future projects to come,” stated Netflix VP of original programming Cindy Holland in a press release.

Netflix

The Haunting of Bly Manor will be released sometime in 2020.
