Turns Out Natalie Portman Has Never Met Her ‘Star Wars’ Son Mark Hamill

Recently, Star Wars icon, Mark Hamill, revealed a surprising piece of behind-the-scenes trivia: he had never met co-star Natalie Portman, despite the fact that she portrays Luke Skywalker’s mother, Padmé Amidala, throughout the prequels.

Mark Breaks The Internet

Hamill initially shared this info via Twitter by reposting a tweet from the official Star Wars account that wished Portman a happy birthday and adding, “FUN FACT: I’ve never met this woman.”

Needless to say, the post spread across social media like wildfire, leaving many fans with follow-up questions as to how the coincidence could have possibly occurred.

An Informal Invitation

Hamill’s viral tweet caught the attention of talk show host, Stephen Colbert, just in time for his interview with Portman. On a recent episode of The Late Show, Colbert brought the subject up with the award-winning actress, who confirmed that she had never met her on-screen son.

“It’s such a shame, I would love to meet him,” said Portman. She then turned to the camera to address Hamill directly, adding, “Mark, I would love to meet you, come over.”

Late Night Confessions

Naturally, the humorous host had plenty of jokes about the situation. Colbert proposed a theory that he is actually the center of the Star Wars universe, as he has spent more time with Mark Hamill and Natalie Portman individually than they have with one another. Given that he often references his shameless love of geek culture, it’s no wonder why he might want this to be true!

The late-night funnyman also pointed out that Hamill had failed to wish Portman a happy birthday in the tweet, teasingly adding that that might not make the best first impression. The Léon: The Professional actress joined in on the fun, lovingly shaming her co-star for his oversight.
