‘Miley Cyrus lifeless body was found by her entourage in her Hollywood home in a bathtub on 7th Oct, authorities revealed. Los Angeles investigators are currently trying to determine her cause of death. Investigators declined to comment on reports that the famed singer/actress drowned from a prescription pill overdose…’ Now8News blog reported in one their articles. They even dressed it with a ‘breaking news’ banner. Well, this of course if false.

Now8News and a few other celebrity gossip sites masquerading as Local news channels have simply been using this claim as a click bait to earn more traffic on their blogs.

Miley Cyrus death hoax spreads on Facebook

As usual, the death hoax rumor did not miss a front raw spot on social media. The news gained traction on Friday after a “R.I.P. Miley Cyrus” Facebook page popped up and attracted nearly a million likes. The about pages said “On Friday 7th October, 2016, our beloved singer/actress Miley Cyrus passed away. She was born on 23rd Nov, 1992 in Nashville. She will be missed by millions but will never be forgotten. Kindly show your condolences and sympathy by liking and commenting on this page”. The page has since been deleted.

Hundreds of Miley’s fans immediately started offering their condolences on the Facebook page, expressing their sympathy and sadness that their celebrated 23-year old singer and actress had passed away. Twittersphere, as you would also expect, was similarly frenzied over the death hoax

While some loyal fans believed the post, others were immediately skeptical about the report, perhaps having learned from a huge amount of celebrity death hoaxes that have been emerging over the recent months. Some fans pointed out that a celebrity of Miley’s stature would have been a major news item across networks, as it is, the report has not been aired on any American major network, indicating that it was a fake a report.

The actress is alive and well

Miley’s reps officially confirmed that the Wrecking Ball singer is not dead. “She is just one on a very long list of celebrities who have fallen victim of this hoax. She is alive and well, so stop believing the rumors you see on the internet” They said. Most fans expressed anger at the hoax saying it was, reckless, hurtful and distressing to the family and fans of a much celebrated and loved actress.
