Meghan Markle’s Role in Her and Prince Harry’s Move to LA

It looks like 2020 has been a wild year for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. After stepping away from the royal family, the couple has been living in North America. Following some time in Canada, the family found themselves stationed in Los Angeles, California.

The City of Angels

In a Saga Magazine interview, British author Stanley Johnson talked about the aftermath of Markle and Harry’s decision. As the father of current British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, the author has a closer look at everything. When asked about who actually made the decision to head to America, Johnson had one guess. “Whose decision was it, I wonder, to build a new life in North America? I can’t help thinking that Meghan, as we must now call her, played a leading role here,” Johnson said in the interview. Much like the Queen, Johnson is upset about their move but knows it’s what they wanted. “Personally, I am very sad to see them go. Their charity work was fantastic, particularly the support they gave to wildlife conservation and women’s issues,” he also said in the interview.

Home Sweet Home

For Markle, this move brings her back to her roots. Born in Los Angeles, the former actress spent her time at private schools in Hollywood. Her first brush with the entertainment industry was thanks to her father Thomas. When Markle was young, her father was a successful television director of photography and lighting director. Thomas won his first Daytime Emmy Award back in 1982 when his daughter was only one year old. Markle would often join her father on the set of Fox’s hit sitcom “Married… with Children.” “There were a lot of times my dad would say, ‘Meg, why don’t you go and help with the craft services room over there? This is just a little off-color for your 11-year-old eyes,'” Markle told Esquire.

The set visits ignited a newfound passion for acting. After graduating from Northwestern University, Markle found herself looking for acting gigs. Following stints on “General Hospital” and “CSI: NY,” Markle landed on the popular game show “Deal or No Deal.” In 2011, she earned her biggest role yet as Rachel Zane on USA’s legal drama “Suits.” Markle exited the show after seven seasons because of her marriage to Harry.

Being from the region, Markle wanted to return home with her family by her side. It was rumored that the pair frequently visited Los Angeles last year to see Markle’s mother Doria Ragland. As expected, they were working towards leaving the royal family during this time. For Markle, there was no other place she’d rather be than home. For Harry, it’s all about keeping his wife happy.

As expected, this is all just speculation. As an ex-Royal, Markle has to protect her privacy more than ever.

Home Is Where the Heart Is

Upon their arrival to Los Angeles, Markle and Harry knew paparazzi would be lurking with bated breath. The family temporarily called Malibu home for a bit. The region is best known as the home base for celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Jack Nicholson. Fortunately, Markle and Harry have been cautious about going out. With the streets emptied because of the coronavirus, it wouldn’t be hard for paparazzi to spot them.

Fortunately, they managed to get some help from Tyler Perry. The famed director decided to lend his Beverly Hills mansion to them while they’re still home shopping. Worth $18 million, Perry’s mansion includes eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. Perry was introduced to the couple by Oprah Winfrey. Harry and Winfrey are working together on an Apple TV documentary about mental health. The documentary is slated to be released before the year is over. There’s no word if either will appear in the documentary in any way.

With the coronavirus epidemic, it’ll be easier for the couple to purchase a home. Since fewer people are on the hunt, the prices for these massive houses will go down. The couple is looking to drop around $10 million on their new home. With their popularity, it won’t be hard for them to find a grand deal.
