Meghan Markle Had To Miss Her 20-Year High School Reunion But Still Sent A Sweet Apology Letter

Meghan Markle

The darling Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, was a part of the graduating class of 1999 at Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles. Her class recently celebrated their 20-year reunion, but Markle was unable to attend, unfortunately. The absence was for good reason since she was busy giving birth to the newest Royal Baby. However, that didn’t stop her from sending along her regrets in a very sweet way!

A Precious Gift

Markle’s high school friends were hoping to see her at the reunion which was held on May 5. However, that was the day before the birth of Prince Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, the son of Markle and Prince Harry. Markle was more than likely unable to travel at this point in her pregnancy anyway and ended up giving birth the next day. “Everyone was disappointed that they did not get to catch up with Meghan given everything that has happened to her,” a former friend shared with the Daily Mail. Since the duchess was unable to go to this milestone reunion, she decided to send an apology note on official Kensington Palace stationery, which is something the school can frame for years to come. Of course, her former friends and classmates were understanding of the circumstances. “The whole group was super excited about her giving birth to the first British-American prince. It was all anyone talked about,” the unidentified friend stated. “They were so excited to get that letter from her.”

Fond Memories

Markle sending the letter was of no huge surprise to anyone. The Duchess was always said to be sweet and considerate during her high school days. “She is remembered as someone who is very thoughtful, and to get that kind of attention now that she is a royal went down really well,” the unidentified friend said. Markle is also said to love handwritten notes and is an expert calligrapher. Her former teacher, Maria Pollia, also revealed in a 2018 interview with CNN that Markle was a curious and caring student with maturity beyond her years while at Immaculate Heart. She regularly asked questions and engaged in class discussions with Pollia calling her a “bright personality” in class. “She was also a very unusually compassionate person, and developed that compassion quite early in her life,” Pollia shared. With that compassion, Markle continues to use her platform to reach others across the globe. Her former classmates and teachers are very proud.

Hopes For The Future

Of course, everyone was excited to hear about Archie’s arrival. The school posted a congratulatory statement on Facebook to Markle and Prince Harry shortly after the news broke. The statement read, “Immaculate Heart High School & Middle School congratulates IH alumna Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, and her husband, Prince Harry, on the birth of their son. The school community extends best wishes of happiness to the Royal Family on this joyous event!” Former friends and teachers are also optimistic that Markle will be able to attend their next milestone reunion, which will be held in 2024. “Hopefully she will be able to make it to the 25-year reunion and she is welcome to bring Harry and Archie along with her,” her high school friend said. That would be a major event for the school and for the duchess. For now, though, Markle is focused on being a new mom and enjoying time with Prince Harry and Archie. “He has the sweetest temperament. He’s really calm and he’s really been a dream,” the Duchess of Sussex said of his son in an interview with Sky News a few days after his birth. “I’ve got the two best guys in the world, so I’m really happy.” Best wishes to her, Prince Harry, and their new bundle of joy!
