Meghan Markle Might Be Related To This Controversial Figure

Published

on

It’s no secret that Meghan Markle (rather, the Duchess of Sussex) is pretty much perfect, but how much do fans really know about her family history?

Not What It Seems

The new unofficially-titled princess is beautiful, a talented actress, and is avidly involved in philanthropic work. Naturally, she embodies the kind of elegance one would expect from a member of the Royal Family.

E!

With how all-around lovely the new wife of Prince Harry appears to be, it can be hard to believe that she may be distantly related to one of the most famous serial killers in history — but that is precisely what a new documentary is alleging.

Get To Know The Murderer

According to the shocking documentary, Meghan Markle may be a distant relative of none other than H.H. Holmes, the man many know as “America’s first serial killer.” Holmes was a con artist, bigamist, and serial killer who was active in the late nineteenth century in the American northeast.

Mental Floss

In addition to being the subject of at least 50 lawsuits in the city of Chicago alone, Holmes confessed to 27 gruesome murders, although only nine could be confirmed. He was ultimately put to death just before his 35th birthday for one of the murders, though not before making his mark as one of the most talked-about killers in history. Some even suspect he may have been behind the infamous Jack the Ripper murders.

A Connection Made

American lawyer Jeff Mudgett, a descendant of Holmes, claims to have found a familial connection between his great, great grandfather and the newest Royal. “We did a study with the FBI and CIA and Scotland Yard regarding handwriting analysis. It turns out [Holmes] was Jack the Ripper. This means Meghan is related to Jack the Ripper.”

Life and Style Magazine

Needless to say, Holmes is not exactly the type of relative anyone would want to brag about. “I don’t think the Queen knows,” Mudgett explained. “I am not proud he is my ancestor. Meghan won’t be either.”
